RETATRUTIDE is a powerful new triple-hormone receptor agonist that targets three key hormones: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and glucagon. This unique approach allows Retatrutide to tackle weight loss through THREE mechanisms:
Retatrutide, developed by Eli Lilly—the creators of the diabetes medication Mounjaro and the weight loss medication Zepbound that have shown notable weight loss benefits—is a brand new player in the weight management arena. Like other well-known treatments such as Ozempic, Mounjaro, and Wegovy, Retatrutide is administered through a weekly subcutaneous injection. It is currently under investigation for its effectiveness in managing obesity and type 2 diabetes, and the initial findings are VERY impressive!
In one clinical trial focusing on individuals with type 2 diabetes and a BMI ranging from 25 to 50, Retatrutide demonstrated significant dose-dependent weight loss; higher doses led to more significant weight reductions. At the study's 36-week mark, participants on the lowest dose of 0.5 mg per week saw a modest weight loss of just over 3%, slightly outperforming the placebo group, whereas those receiving the highest dose of 12 mg per week experienced nearly 17% weight loss. Also, the medication effectively reduced blood sugar levels. Starting dose is 2mg per week.
Another study evaluated Retatrutide’s impact on individuals with obesity—or those with a BMI over 27 and an associated weight-related condition like high cholesterol. Remarkably, within just 24 weeks, subjects saw substantial weight reductions, from 7.2% in the 1 mg dose group to 17.5% in the 12 mg dose group. By the 48-week mark, continued weight loss was observed, with the highest dose group losing over 24% of their initial body weight, and the lowest dose group achieving nearly 9% weight loss.
The side effects recorded in these studies were generally mild to moderate and primarily gastrointestinal, similar to those seen with other weight loss medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy. Common side effects included nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation. Clinical trials also noted an increase in heart rate, particularly with higher doses, which tended to stabilize after the first six months of treatment. Overall, Retatrutide was deemed safe, aligning with the safety profiles of comparable weight loss drugs.

Compounded retatrutide treatment is a once a week subcutaneous (SQ) injection and is injected into the subcutaneous fat in the abdomen, thigh or back of the arm. Subcutaneious (SQ) injections are VERY easy to do and usually painless! Most patients learn how to do this during the first visit.

This is an excellent video that demonstrates step-by-step exactly how to draw up and inject medication subcutaneously. Highly recommended and the New Zealand accent makes it fun!
